Hi all,

Could someone explain to me what the electric lock is for on his controller and whether it should be connected? Pic attached.

Thanks
It's the ignition switch. The two wires have to be connected for the controller to give power, though sometimes it depends whether you have an LCD or other control panel or not. Some controllers have that switch in parallel with the control panel one, so it's either/or has to be on, and others have them in series, so both have to be on to get power.

The one in the picture has a loop connected to it so that it's on all the time the battery is live, or you can take off the loop and fit a switch there instead to switch off the controller with the battery still switched on.

That controller is a pretty crappy one. It doesn't have a control panel, so no way to adjust the speed or power. you just get maximum when you pedal. Also, the cruise function is dangerous. Every time you hold full throttle for a few seconds, it locks on without you knowing, so when you let go of the throttle it still goes maximum. I think there is a way of fixing a switch to it somehow that makes it more controllable, but I never tried it.

Ok, I have an LCD and it is plugged in. Thanks Saneagle.

The one in the picture isn't the same as yours then.
Correct, the wires on mine are red and purple instead of red & yellow like this one. Do I need a specific 24v controller to go with S866 display?
