Hi can anyone tell me what tool I need to undo this please I have tried this tool but just keeps slipping off
If it is a good fit then it is the right tool.

Remember that one side of the the BB may be a left hand thread, so have a read online to work out which, and then ensure the tool is turned the right way.

Then it is just about how tight it is. Sometimes hot water on the frame but not the BB will help to expand the frame away from the BB and loosen the thread.

Thank you the tool goes into it but it doesn’t stay as soon as you try to loosen it the tool just slips off

I'd try putting the bike on it's side, then cleaning away all that grime using a penetrating oil like WD40 - really get into those grooves using a needle or something. Also, go around the outside of the thread using a needle, clean as thoroughly as you can. Soak it with WD40, tap lightly with a hammer, leave it to soak for a few hours, tap lightly again with a hammer, then clean thoroughly using isopropyl (you want max friction), also clean the tool... then put some weight on the tool while the bike is on it's side and you're turning in the right direction. Do be careful though, because you're wearing away the thread every time you slip. matthewslack's hot water suggestion is a good one. Oil can act as glue, if left long enough...

you need a long M8 bolt to hold the tool like this:

I bought one of those sold on ebay for £2-£3 but forgot what they are called.

found it, it's called an anti-drop tool:

The price has gone up so much! it's now doubled what I paid for it.

Nice! Haven't seen those before - I rattled through ebay looking for it too, this seller has a better rating
