Hiya all. Just trying to remove the bottom bracket.
It's something I have done a dozen times before but not for a few years now.
I remember last time the teeth were getting pretty worn and this time it's becoming a nightmare.

I am beginning to doubt which thread turns in which direction.
Could someone just help me our here as the teeth only have a few more attempts left in them

I know that one side has the cup. I'm thinking that it's the RH drive side and this is an anti clockwise threats to undo.....pic below

And this is the LH view which is removed with a normal threat once the cup is off the other side......or am I completely wrong??

Any hints or tips are most welcome......it's a Shimano cartridge style bottom bracket

I don't know about using threats - they look as though they've been threatened to death
You can get replacements quite readily - well worth doing once you've got them off. And invest in the proper tool, if you haven't already. If you have the proper tool, ensure it's inserted properly and don't force it more than absolutely necessary. ;)
Oops . Start on left, counter clockwise :)

Lol. Oops, I meant to type threads.
Mobile typing with greasy fingers is my excuse

Well I have made some progress but it was all arse about face.
I have the cartridge removed from the LHS with a anti clockwise thread.
I'm left with the cup......so which way to undo?

Both sides turn in the same direction to undo when vied from the same side. The side you have left has a flange. Cups and cones are from a different type of BB. The flanged side is the RH side of the bike, or the chain-wheel side. It has a LH thread, so you undo it in the direction that you pedal.

It's sorted now.
I ended up screwing the tool into spindle with a long bolt and then putting the whole bike into a vice.

Now I have to find a long enough bottom bracket to accommodate the peddle sensor.

What length do you need? I replaced on in my wife's urban mover, and couldn't get anything remotely as long. Finished up with one 10mm shorter but it did the job - more elegantly than the original.
Just measure the length then do a google.;)

The one that came out of the frame was a 110 but the bike was made up from a load of random parts that I had laying around and so was not really suitable, but worked.
I tried a 113 and still too short, so next I will buy a 118 and hopefully that will do it :)
Roll on tomorrow

Halfords have them for about a tenner, or use the opportunity to upgrade your whole crank to a Shimano M590, which comes with hollowtech BB for £60 to £70. A 48T chainwheel will raise your gearing for more comfortable pedalling.

Yeah the 113 was from Halfords. I will take it back and swap for a 118 and see how that works.
The chain wheel is currently a 36 or 38 (can't remember exactly) which is perfect for the Nexus 8sp hub.

I will have to bow to your superior knowledge here lol.
Just took the Ezee conversion out for my first ride and I am totally blown away with how good it is and I really need to up the gearing to make the most of the motor.

And thank you for putting up with all my dumb questions lol.
I have just been out for another ride over the South Downs. I can't get enough of it. I have found a new addiction :)
