My apologies if this has been done before, I did a search and found a few 2017 threads on this but none of them finished with a solution.
The bike is a Trek Powerfly 9.7 2017 model with a Bosch Purion control unit, Powertube 500Wh battery and Performance Line CX Gen 2 motor. I bought it secondhand a year ago and it has been running fine since then. Th control unit is now not switching on meaning I get no assistance from the battery/motor. I replaced the cell batteries in the controller to no avail. Powertube was fully charged too.
Now, I’m thinking I might have been a right nugget in the lead up to the controller not working. I had been out for the day, bike worked fine. Came home and cleaned the bike and the controller got wet (sponge, not hose). I also serviced the headset and when putting it back together bullishly turned the bars only to find that the cable to the controller was tight (cable wasn’t tight beforehand).
Am thinking I’ve either got water into the control unit or I’ve broken a wire when turning the bars.
Took the bike to my local Bosch dealer, they’ve plugged it into the diagnostic machine and say there are no fault codes or errors. They’ve also said they don’t have the skills to investigate further and that I should take the bike to a Trek dealer to investigate further.
My gut feel is to take a punt on a new controller but wondered if anyone on here had any thoughts to share first? I’d also like to swap the controller for a Kiox unit, assuming it’s compatible with my Gen 2 motor.
Thanks.
