Bosch motor error code 500 on both our bikes...

Repair shop diagnostics returned the same verdict on both our bikes after they have been outside this winter: code 500, replace motor.

It seems error code 500 is sufficiently rare that it is almost impossible to have randomly happened to both our bikes. Does anyone have an idea what might have happened?

Is it truly a motherboard problem that can't be fixed. Is there no way to replace the motherboard?

Help!

bosch do not sell the controller/ motherboard not even dealers can buy them but 500 means it is dead.

i take it you have no warranty left but peter might take them in px for 2 refurb motors if he has any for sale that will work on the bikes you have.

it is easy to remove the side cover to look inside and clean the mb with some isopropyl alcohol and look for any corrosion on the solder points on the pcb.

im not sure if he can do smd and bga repair on the boards yet tho with parts off other boards like this.

Probably a motor connection issue. Check and clean all the connectors. You might have to take the side panel off to get at them or even drop the motor. Also, it's probably worth cleaning the LCD contacts.

you shouldn't leave an ebike outside for any length of time.

Most contacts will be copper so as vfr has mentioned clean and check them for moisture/oxidisation.
