Hi,
After 4 years my CX Gen 4 bike is suddenly throwing up 510 errors which won’t clear even with Bosch battery removal & re- alignment of spoke magnet.
Sometimes the bike will assist for 15 seconds sometimes not at all. If I ride with no assist, sometimes it will cut in for a few seconds.
I once got the Purion message “Display Battery Charge”. On advice, I checked the Bosch battery terminals were clean.
Online forums say this is an Electro Magnetic Sensor issue caused by outside magnetism which was corrected in the May 2021 Firmware update.

I didn't get this update.

My questions are
1. 'why would the issue wait until now to crop up'?

2. Are there other reasons for 510?

TIA

I would interpret that as the battery in the Purion needs changing!

It's a standard Maxell CR2016 3v button cell that will cost a fortune from your bosch dealer or pence from the supermarket. Error code 510 is something inside the motor. You need the second part of the code to identify exactly what's wrong, but you only get that by plugging into Bosch diagnostics. Change the battery first because if it's low it might get communication errors.

Not many people know, but there are 73 different error code 500’s. What you can’t see on your handlebar display is the last three digits e.g. 500 111. Not that this would help as Bosch don’t tell you what these mean anyway.

we have decoded it .B.I.N

send it to ebike motor centre worst case they will sell you a new motor and give you some money off for the one you have for parts.

he is a bosch dealer with a magura account and if they cant fix it no one can.

they will also arrange free postage you just have to put it in a box and wait for it to be picked up buy royal mail.

Checked the button batteries, both read 3.3v. Must have been a spurious error message.

Hi, Further to my Gen4 510 error, the update from V2 to V5 did fix it. I've not done more than a couple of miles as a test, but it seems fine now. Liking the extra power too. Had a big chat with the dealer and he said he found the correct Torque Sensors available from the factory in China. Does any one have the original part number please - which is written on the sensor?
He also had 6 or so failed new & nearly new motors sat on the floor waiting to go back to bosch under warranty.

Completed a decent ride this morning and all good. Phew, I didn't want to be hit for a new motor. Fingers crossed for later on down the road! I hope Bosch are providing all motor parts (like Brose do) by the time it breaks.

Finally got some traction on this scandal.

Lets hope we see some corporate ethos change re spares & design and not just a meaningless, throw away mission statement:

The Guardian didn't include everything I wanted to expose but I suppose the lawyers said no.

He mis-quoted me a bit and got a couple of facts wrong.

I hope other consumer orgs pick this up now and run with it.
