Bosch Batteries

Featured Replies

I have a Carrera Crossfuse with a 400 at Bosch battery. It's about 2.5 years old, I sometimes go out with friends on longer rides and, as my battery starts to degrade, I am thinking of replacing. Does anyone know If it is viable to move up to a 500wh with out any modification to the motor. Or would you recommend buying another 400 wh and just carry my old as back up on really long rides?
500 will be fine, as long as it's the same design (Bosch Powerpack).

Thanks, It is the powerpack but I was worried about pushing more power through the cables.

Don't worry, the battery power is the same, just the 500 has more capacity, so will take you further.

Thanks.

remember you can still get a lot of use out of the old one.

So if you wanted to buy a less expensive 400Wh you would still have more than 500Wh if you used your old battery first and then swapped over when needed.

you can get a bit over 500w if you recell the batt but at 300 quid its not worth it my 5 year old batt still works tho at about half the range of new.

I recently had a problem with a Bosch power pack 400 wh from 2014. The battery wouldn't charge anymore. One led was on and when the charger was connected it will blink about twice (charging) and then will stop. I opened the pack and could locate a block of 4 cells (10 block of 4 in seriel with a voltage of 0v vs the other at 3.4v. I changed the 4 deffectives cells without disturbing the wiring and connected my charger again. Unfirtunately the result is the same. Reading through the forums, I came to the conclusion that the BMS that detected the initial problem is refusing to charge now as these powerpack are not supposed to be open and recharged. I have tried the 15s resetting by pressing the button but it doesn't change anything. Anyone having an idea how to get my battery back to work? Thanks
if the bms has locked it self off there is no way to fix it not even dealers can fix it and you can not buy a new bms and no others will work either so its a bin job.

Well I don't know how a bms locked behave... Mine alow charge for 2s and then stop. When the powerpack is plugged on the bike it does allow power to flow to the motor. Only the charging is a problem...

It would be great if you could tell us what Jimmy says

I will orobably be at this point in3-4 years time (new bosch system) - Jimmy was brilliant with my last ebike battery - but that was without Bosch's tinkering

when i asked for a price to recell my batt it was about £300 tho they did say it must be working and charging b4 they can do it.

tho that was over a year ago so might have a bms fix buy now but its not looking good.
