I have just recently been told by a uk dealer that bosch are looking for £600 pounds for a replacement battery, and the dealer is fighting tooth and nail to get the price lowered.I find this absolutely horrendous.To pay £600 pounds for a 8ah battery which will only get you roughly about 30 miles is beyond belief.They must be prepared to pay for this in Germany,but surely in the uk this will put a lot of people off buying a bosch bike, unless they lower the price of their batteries.?

Yes, that is a tad expensive. I expect some alternatives will surface fairly quickly if that's the case.

I sometimes feel embarrassed to say we charge £450 for 15.5Ah but in fact that almost twice as big battery.

FYI: the Bosch charger is 4.2 amp - full charge 2.5 hrs - 90% charge 1.5 hrs

I didn't know Bosch made batteries. I presume it must be very expensive to stamp their brand name on the side.

If I can buy a 10ah Panasonic battery for £200 less (and which I know to be long lasting), I can only assume that Panasonic use a much cheaper printing company.

Even £500 is too steep for an 8 Ah battery. They are no doubt buying them in and probably applying the usual margins that apply to their buy-ins in other parts of their business. Hopefully they will learn better.

I agree, £500 is far too much and £600 crosses the line into rip-off territory. People will still buy bikes fitted with these units, but there will be a greater number who are put off buying by this greed. I'm sure that Bosch will have done their homework and will meet their forecast proffits buy selling a smaller number of overpriced power systems to those daft enough to pay.

Does anyone know the cost of a battery for the Storch Raddar, or is it a case of if you have to ask, you can't afford it?

No, I can't. Thanks for posting, now I know to never consider any bike fitted with anything made by Bionx.

The BionX "10" Ah battery has always been the most expensive, even when it was NiMh. For example, when a 10 Ah eZee one was £250 in 2006, that BionX one was £500, the same sort of doubling as now.

On the plus side, their quality has always been the best, when lesser batteries were failing in months a few years ago, the BionX ones were sailing past two years with no loss of capacity according to owner reports. Back then all other e-bike batteries were made in the Orient when that was by far the lowest cost source, but BionX ones were made in Germany, showing they put quality first.

So yes, the price is definitely OTT, but at least it carries the assurance of good service.

Sorry to be pedantic Tony, but a BionX 10Ah battery is more than 3 times the current price of a 10Ah eZee battery and almost £300 more than the complete eZee bikes I will have in stock by mid January

I agree John, my bad wording, the ending not comparing with eZee.

When I said, "the same sort of doubling as now", I was referring to the BionX £1000 against the common £500 for the better e-bike batteries generally, as referred to earlier in the thread.
