795 EUR is more like £585, assuming you pay no exchange fees with your credit/debit card and bank. With the delivery included, and 3% exchange rate fee, might not be a £200 difference.

Might find shipping expensive as I believe they class a battery on its own as dangerous goods?

Do you think Paypal does not charge exchange fee? They will give you a price in GBP, but that will include some very poor exchange rate.

Anyway, this is a good price, but the actual savings to be made are probably closer to £100 as opposed to the £200 initially mentioned.

Just logged into PayPal & they are quoting 1.31526. To send 795 + 10 EUR it says £612.05.

That's if they accept standard shipping. If they charge extra for 'dangerous goods' then obviously will work out even more.

Right. "Official" rate is around 1.36 currently, so Paypal takes 3.5% commission on the rate...

If the UK price for that battery is £699, then the saving is more like £87 then...

After having had two Bosch batteries fail, and a third now throwing out 530 error codes, as much as I like a saving, I'd rather stick with paying the extra for a UK supplied battery.

I can imagine sending a faulty battery back to Germany or where ever outside of the UK, could be problematic. Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture when trying to save money, and for me, this is one of those occasions.

Perhaps when Bosch get their planned UK service centre up and running it'll be worth it, but till then..

Nope, just bad luck with the first two. You don't get a report back, so no idea what the issue was with either. Both times, the batteries were sent and returned within one week. It took BH over three months to replace the battery on the Neo Xtrem. S**t product, and s**t company to deal with.

The third battery works on one bike, but not on the other, but the other battery will work on either bike. Just need to take it in to get the error codes cleared, and hopefully all be good again.

I bought a replacement Panasonic battery about a year ago from a Ebike Vision in Germany. I see that they also do Bosch replacements. These batteries are made in Germany (not Chinese junk). They are likely to be the suppliers of batteries to Kalkhoff and maybe Bosch, but have no evidence to back that up.

My battery has been excellent, very well made in a robust case and no noticeable loss of performance. So far, I would say that it is equal to the original.

The Bosch batteries they offer are:

468 Wh £436 delivered.

Links in last two posts all seem to be for the Classic line batteries.

Think EddiePJ & Soundwave are referring to the later Active / Performance lines.

Well I am new to all this Ebike stuff, and currently doing my research before buying my first Ebike.

It would be good to always have a full battery, good to go, so to speak, but this does seem an expensive addition to the cost of a new Ebike.

£700 does seem a bit steep for a battery, but to be expected for a branded product I guess.

Is it not possible to buy none branded versions of these batteries for a fraction of the cost of the branded product, or is it the case that the market is still quite niche.
