There are some eBike conversions that use the Bosch 36V power tool batteries.

Is there a decent and robust mounts available ?

Its a possibility for replacing the Swytch stuff on my Brompton.

Cheap broken tools off eBay and scavenge the mount?

One possibility, for sure.

You appear to be able to buy 'faulty' tools for around £30.

But then, how to know if its not the battery mount that is 'faulty' ?
Unlikely compared to other bits that fail. Usually gearbox or motor first on the cheap ones, then battery...

For same idea but probably better batteries I'd go Makita or De Walt.

Might be worth trying local
recycling centre too.

And should be less than £30: I expect a lightly used but fully working Makita of the now old fashioned brushed motor type for that!

The specs claim 14awg so the wire is capable of more then 10a if it is silicone awg.
If the wiring isn't silicone then change it as the silicone awg handles heat better plus is highly flexible.
One assumes the battery footpring for 18v &3 6v is the same except for a larger battery stack size with the latter.

If you like doing these sort of DIY projects, get a 3D printer and make them - and everything else you want or need. This printer is very popular and does a good job. They're not exactly expensive now.
People have already designed everything like that. all you have to do is download the file and print it.

But does the holder for an 18V battery also fit a 36V battery ?
It will do if the two batteries are identical in fitment and share exactly the same foot print.
