currently laid up after an op' on my back and I am bored stupid....Been through most of Netflix, catch up tv and Blu Rays.....So bored I actually watched Judge Rinder and Kyle!!!!!!!!!!!!

Missing my bike, missed out on some great weather last week - was also looking forward to getting my motorbike out for a blast up to the Scottish Borders...but no...just sat and watched the blue skies out of the bedroom window..

Getting square eyes from playing games on the iPad....

Another week until the stitches come out and I cant wait !!

I can relate to that - hand and forearm in a cast means I can't drive anywhere (insurance won't cover hand casts), no public transport in village and taxi's are getting expensive. I saw 10 minutes of Kyle before the foot wanted to go through the telly, so as retail therapy I bought the e-bike. There are so many dog walks I can do before me and the mutts get bored.

Yesterday I was meant to be instructing at Spa on the bike, and 2 days beforehand was meant to be at the Nurburgring for one of my annual pilgrimages...all scuppered this year as I wait for my thumb to heal ffs!!! It was nice getting out on the e-bike round Cannock the other weekend though, even if it was at a steady pace with the wife and my hand in a pop.

Hope you're back out on the bike now and enjoying the good weather we've been having - some cracking roads up there you have Stumpy.

You could google some porn.... seeing as its only one hand out of action.

What was the injury to it anyway ?

Car crash - someone hit me and I swerved out of the way, trapping my thumb in the steering wheel. Snapped the tendon that extends the thumb out....that's it. 3 hour operation to use tendons from fingers to make my thumb work again!!! I too am bored silly as house bound. 3 months off work, and possible loss of movement in thumb. Picking a pen up off the desk and doing shirt buttons up was suddenly very interesting...

Damn..... I bet that smarted a bit......
Pretty ironic to do track days & enduro, yet do that damage to your hand in a car. Impressive !
It was the silliest of crashes, no big impact or crunch. Someone just nudged into the side of me as they wanted the exit off a roundabout that I was also taking....

I've smashed myself up on bikes plenty over the years, ironically, the thumb never hurt (although I do remember hearing the snap of the tendon). never had a cast on before either, and it sucks....

Proper job there.

I've lost my stomach, spleen, one kidney and half a lung through motorbikes - not on track but on the road (despite racing semi professionally for a short while in the late 90's). Oh, and my right shoulder is built like terminator also. Never broken any arms or legs though, all internal / crush injuries.

I've been pretty lucky i guess. Been riding m/c's for 40 years on & off, but never been that badly injured with the few offs i've had...... not even back in the day when i was a bit of a tearaway.
Last off was 1991....... Hope i'm not tempting fate here.

I suppose I've been lucky too, riding motorbikes on and off over some 51 years, never been off on the road and never any injury. My first 22 years of riding was without any helmet. Consumer m/c helmets hadn't even been invented when I started riding. Never worn a bicycle helmet either.

But I'm obviously not accident prone, in my eighty years I never broken any bone or had any admission to an A & E. Even managed six years in the regular army without any harm, a sting or splinter is as much as I've ever suffered!

I hope it's not tempting fate for anyone here too, so long as we are still able to ride and enjoy getting out - guess that's why us lot are on these things now - that's the main reason why I bought mine.

Anyway, hope Stumpy is back in the saddle and tearing up the trails and that you all stay rubber side down.
