Hi my name is john , I'm into bikes in general really ,but do like bmx even though i am getting on a bit ( a lot in fact ). I suppose it's the feel of ridding a small framed bike and having a low centre of gravity that appeals. Any way i built a motorised bmx using a 47cc 2 stroke strummer engine with friction drive to the back wheel, which turned out ok although it slips a bit in the wet . I fancied doing the same with electric , so I bought a 500 watt 36v barsoom kit from Amazon and just fitted it to a modern bmx with long seat post and stem riser with a rack to eventually carry the battery. It looks really good .I am now looking at building my own battery pack and could do with some advice on the build and charging etc with safety foremost ( I don't want burn the shed down . I'm also into music Bob Dylan and my hero Neil Young so if anyone got any advice and would like to talk bmx Neil or Bob I'm your man cheers john

Hi john - welcome to the forum and ebikes :)

So what are your thoughts when it comes to batteries ? Ready made batteries from Chinese sources such as BMS Battery give you lots of different ah ratings , sizes and shapes . These are plug n play options with battery management system built in (BMS)

Or you could go the rc Lipo route - this requires more care and would not be plug n play but you get a lot of amp hours in a small package
