Bleeping towbar

I have just had a Thule tow-bar fitted on my Peugeot 5008 but now, when I turn the ignition on, there are 3 beeps followed by a further 3 beeps once the engine starts. I've spoken to the fitters who assure me this is standard self check for tow-bars on Peugeots but I'm not convinced, does anyone else have a Thule tow-bar fitted to their Peugeot?

I should point out that there is nothing on the tow-bar when this happens, I could understand a self check for a lighting board or anything else plugged into the electrics.

I've been told it's the latest version of the relay and they're trying to source me a previous model which doesn't do the audible self check. I'll just have to wait and see.

I fitted a Towsure bar to my Pug Expert a few months back & that doesn't bleep, but that's a commercial vehicle, I guess.

What does get on my wick & makes passengers curious, is that the 2 relays are not zackly in synch, so one is treated to an echo, which varies slightly in delay.

I would expect there is a piezo sounder on the relay or board which can be unsoldered.

Just got off the phone to The Journey Centre who have managed to get an 'old' relay from Thule which they will fit FOC. It appears that there are regulations due out which require the audible check to be incorporated in all installations and Thule were just ahead of the game.
