May 26, 200817 yr Does anyone know how easy it is to switch between modes on the bionx console. For example if you came to a steep descent and wanted to switch to regenerative, could you do it at a touch of a button without stopping or would you have to stop and go through a series of keypresses to activate it? Also, is there a way to switch between maximum speed modes quickly, i.e. press a button and top assistance speed would be 15 mph, press another button and goes into derestricted mode? Alternatively if you use the derestricted mode (I understand you press a few buttons to disable the speed limiter), if you switch the console off and then back on will it remember that it is in derestricted mode or will it go back to the speed limiter mode? Cheers, The Maestro
May 26, 200817 yr It's just a single press while on the move to change between power levels and/or regeneration. I don't know anything about derestriction on these. I only know the 350 watt Canadian/US version which has no restriction, just the choice of power levels. There may be a difference on the European/UK 250 watt version. .

Cheers, The Maestro The assist and regeneration levels are set with simple button presses. Setting the system up for "derestricted mode" is similar to what you do to enter the wheel diameter. It requires a lot of button pushes. The system will remember the setting when you turn it off and back on again. There are a lot of system settings on the Bionx system. Hope that helps. John
May 27, 200817 yr The Bionx 350 system has a max set at 34kph (20mph)in the Canadian system . It will pull to 24 kph (15mph) at full power then do reduced power to 34kph before it cuts out. If you derestrict with the codes it will not cut out (I have had mine still assisting at 52kph (over 30mph). Using the throttle gives full power right up to 34 kph in restricted mode. As John says it will remember your setting until you change the code. Simple push of the button to change between assist power and regen. Hold button down to cycle through all modes quickly. Feathering the brake lever gives level 4 regeneration. Excellent system with lots of codes to tweek the system. 25 months and still going strong with the lithium battery showing no signs of loss of power.
June 15, 200817 yr hello from france ! i planned to go to visit my friend in Quebec, and i am quite interested into the PL-350 (US/canada legislation) but the question is : is the consol command correct ? i mean quality does it seem cheap ? because in france a few bikes sold by matra with the crappy 250 Nimh overpriced here seem to be old version of the consol command, i know firmware 2.3 is the newest which solved a lot of problem like level battery indicating nothing Thanks a lot :o)

I wonder whats this is like going up hills ,Im assuming you need to pedal on light or small ones ? Im very interested in this kit but Im not technical at all and not sure how easy a job or expensive it would be to do if you went somewhere. Im very tempted to buy a cheap bike somewhere that would compliment this kit and see if I can get it derestricted in the same way. I do like the fold away design more but whether this would be a good idea with kits like this is another question, I cant get any reply form the place in NY that sells them.. June 16, 200817 yr First to Brebis...The console is very high quality and the only thing i find missing is cadence. There is a reset for battery strength.....no problems with the 350. To tepol. The 350 is very good hill climber. It is a true pedelec and will give power in proportion to your input. In level 4 assist it will triple your input and with the use of multiple gear cassettes and the throttle it really flattens the hills. This site shows some examples of the bikes it can be used on JV Bike Electric Bikes -- the Best Selection of Electric Bicycles in Canada ... It is an expensive system but gives excellent results especially for cyclists that want a certain bike geometry. Edited June 16, 200817 yr by Canadian Cadence
June 17, 200817 yr Author It would be nice if it conveniently forgot the derestrict mode if it was powered off or if stationary for a minute or two. That way there would be no way of proving you were in derestrict mode if for example you were hit by a car or stopped by the police.
