Thought I'd start a new thread.

Ok. After lots of searching I've decided on the following:

http://e-motionevc.co.uk/store/product-info.php?pid257.html

What do you think?

The range is over 50 miles so should easily get me to work and back.

I've also fallen in love with the idea of the battery not being visible. Makes the bike look so much nicer.

Any advice before I click on that buy now button. Lol.

The range is with a lot of pedalling :), high powered motor and slightly smaller than average battery.

I only need to get 25 or 26 miles.
That's 12.5 Wh per mile which is average for an e-bike with a moderately fit rider in average terrain.

If you are a bit less fit and/or there are some tough hills to cross, you may not quite make 26 miles.

Also bear in mind that as a battery ages it loses capacity and therefore range.

For certainty you should aim for an e-bike with a larger capacity battery than 324 Wh. There are plenty of them, many at lower prices than this BH. Don't be too obsessed with a hidden battery, it restricts too much in many ways.

I've got one of these and love it. Fairly discreet, and pretty serviceable.

Mine's currently in for its first service, and I'm getting the supplier to fit a better front fork on it at the same time as I'm finding the stock Suntour item lacking the more confidence I get thrashing up and down trails.

I tried a FS Haibike and found the Neo more fun, and much better looking - no ugly 'soup flask' battery on the Neo. I also found the styling quite boy racer on the Haibike, which I could probably live with if I had to, but I personally prefer the svelte old meets new Neo, reminiscent of Porsche to me. Always slightly awkward to see the middle age bikers (I'm 43 in June...) cutting around on machines that look like they've been covered in glue and driven through the set of the latest Transformers movie.

I've seen ranges from 12 miles caning it up Derbyshire hills on boost in freezing cold sleet, to getting on for 40 miles on cycle paths and towpaths on standard power. The batteries seem like they'll outlast some of the random Chinese ones in terms of quality.

Don't trust the regen. If it works it only gives you the odd watt. Not worth it for spoiling the down hill rush. The gearing needs looking at. My wife's Neo could climb a brick wall in first. As it is geared much to low/ slow for electric. But smart and stylish. If you work even a little you should easily get 26 miles out of it. There are a 300 watt hours is quite a lot. Putting road tires on it will also boost range.
With sweat I got 38 miles out of a 26 volt10 amp battery with the BH race( crank drive)
What will your commute be like?

Some of the new BH's have a larger 12ah battery e.g. Neo Cross (RRP £2199). Koga do some bikes with an integrated frame as well. I have not ridden the later but do like the ride of the BH. Probably my second favourite hub drive bike after Panasonic hub drive.
