Decided to make my bike a bit more secure whilst parked in the garage at home. To secure my motorbike whilst at home I use a ground anchor concreted into the ground, Pragmasis 19mm chain and Squires padlock which works well. So I ordered the same again for my ebike.

Ground anchor from eBay..

The 19mm chain and padlock isn't cheap at over £200, but is worth it in my opinion. Obviously they won't withstand a battery angle grinder with suitable blade, but you can only do so much.

I marked out where I need the ground anchor and started cutting out the concrete floor in my garage with an angle grinder. Best to bow out the sides so the new concrete is wider than the hole entrance...

Set the ground anchor in the hole and started filling with concrete..

Finished off with some concrete that would set grey to best match my garage floor..

24hrs later (just needs a sweep clean)..

Its best to keep the chain off the floor otherwise they can be frozen and smashed with a hammer. My bike is covered on my house insurance but I still refer to secure it best I can.

Beretta make a lovely range of 12 gauge shotguns...

Once on the farm we had a night visit to our petrol tank, we were watching TV but my father heard. Out came the 12 gauge and boom! Me: I thought you were going to shoot in the air? Father: I used the wide spread barrel and at that range I wasn't going to kill anyone... You could hear the screams and the lead bouncing off the car's body though. He then called the police and said I just shot some bloody petrol thieves by the sound of it you might want to check the hospital for guys needing help to remove superficial shotgun pellets. The police came and gave him a lecture on shooting in the air rather than at the car the next morning :)

I like it and a great idea, but they may just find it easier to pinch the entire house instead. Imagine going home to no home.
