I'm taking bets on how long two particular trade members take before they 'happen' to come upon upon this thread or that article & start commenting.

The constant misuse of the "off-road" terminology just shows that educationis needed for many on here.

Let's have some decided cases of 'huge compensation claims' falling to the dealer, or to the bloke who leant the ebike rider a pump to inflate his tyres.
There are no such cases.
And once again, the Bosch system is cited when a dongled Bosch bike is the least likely of all to land anyone in bother.
Yet more arrogance as well from KTM/Col in this thread.

You cannot sell s-pedelecs, so are losing out.
Happily, I believe most readers on here are brighter than you take them for and can see you are driven purely by commercial imperative.

We can sell sPedelecs we make a number. We have chosen not to allow our UK dealers to sell them unless the customer can prove they have access to private land to use them. This is the sensible and morally right decision for my business I believe.

I'm afraid statements like this are very common on here. So I'm afraid my concern is not arrogance it's one based on reading lots of post on here that are simply wrong.

Oh, and should probably add the dealer who is currently causing all his fuss isn't even a ktm dealer. It's the network of haibike dealers who are upset.
If I can find the thread and specific post again, I'll post the link, but I did read a few weeks back on the German pedelec forum, that Bosch intended to clamp down on Bosch authorised dealers that are selling dongles, or more specifically, look closer at warranty claims made by those dealers that are known to be selling dongles.
If Yamaha were to follow suit, then it would seem to be a very daft dealer that is happy to risk loosing a franchise and possibly a down turn in business, through biting the hand that feeds it, the bike manufacturer.
It would be interesting to hear how Martin proposes to get around the issue of opening a warranty claim, in the possibly unlikely event of a motor failure.
If it were me, I'd be starting to get a bit twitchy.

The article is most useful to those looking for a dongled bike.
It lists 3 dealers at the moment, I am sure that there must be more. Hopefully the'll add more on the next article.
Perhaps it could also list manufacturers of dongles as well.

I am glad this topic has resurfaced because being technically ignorant I have a question....
Whenever the D word is used the same members offer their words of wisdom politely pointing out the pitfalls and consequences of using these Speed enhancers, but I also see references to building bikes with 300 watt or bigger motors that are capable of achieving speeds well in excess of the 15.5 supposedly legal limit (some without even pedaling) and I find it strange that these aforementioned posters who are obviously abreast of current legislation don't offer any pearls of wisdom within these posts.
So my question is....
Do the regs only apply to Bosch crank drive bikes fitted with a double?
