Bike doesn't assist anymore

Hi all,

I own an eZee Sprint from 2007. I did a ride last week, parked the bike, an hour later took the bike and i noticed there was no assist anymore. It's a pedelec, so i need to peddle to activate the assist in combination with the throttle.
The battery was loaded and powerful. I checked the voltage, about 41 Volts. The headlight (powered by this battery) is functioning too.
The red led on the controller is normal steady on. No fault indication by on/off and counting the sequences.
This bike did not have brake contacts at delivery in 2007, so that could not be the problem.
I checked all the wires and connectors, those looks OK.
I disconnected the throttle and the red led is blinking 5 times, so the controller is giving the right information.
I do own another "throttle", a potentiometer, and mounted it, no results of course.
Now i can conclude the battery, throttle, on/off switch and controller are functioning.
The pedelec impulse sensor could be the trouble maker? I checked it optical and everything is on it's place. There is about 5 mm space between sensor and the spinning plate i think. I removed a little mud. No, still no assist.
I looked for a wiring diagram from eZee on the Internet, but it looks like those diagram doesn't correspondent exactly with the wiring of my bike. I looked further and found a wiring diagram from a bike called HEBB E-BIKES. Optical the same bike. This wiring diagram looks the same as my bike is wired.
I am trying to diagnose if the pedelec sensor is faulty, but i don't know how to test that sensor.
However i did find a method on Internet to change the bike from pedelec to e-bike. The cable running from battery gauge (the one with the 3 leds) to the controller contains 6 wires. By connecting the yellow one to the black one at the controllers side (making a bridge), the bike should become in e-bike mode. So i believe the pedelec impulse sensor is then not in function anymore.
I switched the on/off key, the red led is burning constantly, so no faulty codes. I activated the throttle and ....................................................unfortunately the motor is still not making efforts to run.

I really need your help, because the help i get from China (eZee), is buying all electric items the bike has, excluded the motor and battery for 250 dollar (excl. tax and custums cost)

Kind regards
Dirk

Hi Dirk,

Firstly, if you are in Europe there is no need to go to China for parts, Cyclezee are the eZee UK importers and we have a good stock of spares.
It's unusual that your bike is pedelec only, I'm guessing that you bought the Sprint in the EU mainland or it was one of the early EU models?
The gap between the magnet disc and pedelec sensor is a bit wide, it should be 2 to 3 mm, so try moving the disc closer, you should be able to do this without removing the crank set provided that it is not stuck to the axle with gunge.
You can download a service manual from this page of our website http://cyclezee.com/ezee-downloads.html

2nd having a look at the disc and sensor, possible that it has been knocked whilst you left the bike.

I managed to find the fault.
It was a bad connection in the Motor Hall Wires. The black box at the suspension fork.

Thanks for your help

King regards

Maybe the same fault I had on my Ezee Forza - see 'A meeting of car and bike' in the Technical forum. If there are strange faults occuring it is worth simply disconnecting and reconnecting all accessible connectors.
