Hi

Just about to get me an electric bike and have been looking for a suitable towbar carrier. All of the ones I have looked at seem to be for maximum of 15kg per bike, but the one I am thinking of buying is 22kg. Anyone know of anything suitable

many thanks gray

We've used a Thule ebike carrier for a couple of years. We carry two Juicybike Classics (batteries removed) and it's as solid as a rock (weighs like one too!). Perfect as a carrier, complete with lights & number plate. Bulky to store.

I have a Tonaro Bighit which is pretty hefty at 28kg (but I always carry the bike minus the battery so about 25kg on the rack). I have a thule xpress 970 which is OK up to 30kg and has fittings for two bikes @15kg - it's a doddle to use using a scissor action to grab the towball. It also folds flat and can be carried easily in the boot.

It has been great so far and no problems over some very rough roads. Cost is around £50.

I have this one Thule - Thule RideOn 9503.

It will carry 3 bikes, but with 45 Kg. weight limit, it is only suitable for 2 electric bikes with batteries removed. I recall paying around £90 for it around 4 years ago.

Strapping bikes on single is slightly tricky. This one Thule - Thule EuroPower 916 is specifically designed for electric bikes, but very expensive.

Both these types are towbar mounted, so if you don't already have towbar, that is an additional expense.

Other brands worth considering are Bosal, Westfalia and Witter.

We have a Thule Europower and it carried two Giant electric bikes with ease and feels extremely safe!

Does anyone have any knowledge of Hollywood racks. One is being sold locally for £35. It's a 4 cycle carrier towbar fitting, The guy selling it does not have any specs for it.I cannot find any info regarding it,
but have looked on Hollywoods website and all the towbar racks seem to have a capacity of 50lbs per bike, but it is an American site. Only info on the rack is a number 800747408. Don't know if that means anything. Any help much appreciated

Hi Cakey
sorry m8, don't quite understand. Are you saying that is what the model is called or is that a model you recommend. Either way I do not seem to be able to find any info

best regards gray
