Already got one.
Built up such a system years ago, but its on my van, not the bike. Its very useful for reversing to a hitch up a trailer. Ideally you have to use a LCD screen that has can have the horizontal scan switched, so the display is like a mirror.

Mmmmmm, an LCD facing up into the sunlight and making me look straight down at a display that can't be seen. A small one slightly above eyeline on a helmet would be ok. I'll stick to my Cateye I think.

Thanks for that carpetbagger - to be honest though, I think I'd still prefer a mirror - no concerns about batteries running out (4hr battery life?!) or visibility in bright sunlight either probably lighter weight too .

I can't wait for the bike with anti-lock brakes and a heated seat !

How would a roller-brake (like the Torq rear brake) and super warm & comfy merino wool leggings &/or padded boxers do you?! .

Don't be mean - it will eventually lock the wheel (once it has warmed up a lot).

A rear view camera coupled up to a small head mounted display, like the ones that attach to the side of a pair of glasses, would work well. It's just the thing I need on the 'bent, as looking behind is difficult and I have to rely heavily on the mirror.

To add to the functionality, once the display is there it would be relatively straightforward to add all the bike computer and battery power consumption data to the display, removing the need for any clutter on the handlebars.

For those into long distance touring, a GPS-driven moving map might be implemented the same way.
