liquid metal is the best but it is conductive so dont get any on the mobo you can also delid the ihs if there is the tool for it but then the heat sink will sit direct on the die so to much force and you will crack it.
I've still got some left over from my epic (for then) and ultra stable dual PIII866 on Supermicro motherboard setup. Very hard to apply properly - even a tiny bit too much silver thermal paste applied can lead to terrifying conductive hot fluid dripping over the damned motherboard. They may have improved since:

ugger to apply - might not be worth the effort or risk, for a couple of degrees difference. The newer versions may cure to become more viscous after 200 hours CPU use? But could cause mayhem well before. Mine is not a "K" model CPU - I won't be overclocking, so I don't think delidding is necessary for my uses. Kills resale value, does delidding, but small periods of time does too.
