Hi all, the switch on my battery is starting to play up and can take 3-4 times switching on and off before it turns on.

couple of questions:

- if I just leave it in all the time will the battery deplete much overnight or during the day when not in use, I use it every day for a commute.

- can the connection the switch provides continue to degrade even if I just leave it on, I don’t know much about electrics so wondering if the connection the switch provides can still degrade if you aren’t switching it on and off? Is there a danger the bike could die on me when cycling at some point!

i hope that all makes sense and any help would be fantastic.

many thanks

Neil

What type of battery pack do you have, removable, for example a Hailong with a rocker on/off switch?

If it's removable then when removed it will draw no current as it has no load so no discharge.

Unless the switch shorts in which case you may well have a fire...

If the battery pack has a dodgy switch when powered on it could flip-flop from continuity to no continuity and back, this has potential to damage components so should be addressed

If you leave it on all time yes it could degrade and stat flip-flopping, I would address the switch issues to err on side of caution and not potentially shorten component life. Also, if it loses continuity then yes it will die on you.

Post a pic of the battery, it might be easy enough to open case and just replace the switch in question, or get a local guy to do it for you?
