Battery question ..confused as i have a tbi (brain injury)

hi i have a battery on my bike but i dont know what the voltage of the battery is
the bike is a cylamatic power plus the first version that tesco sold
and i cant rememeber how to test the battery voltage to see what voltage the battery is
i have a multitester and the only reading i get if i put it on 200 v is 29 volts
im sure the battery i supposed to be 24 volts but maybe the battery is not or maybe 24v battery should read out as 29volts
the battery charger is 29.4 volts
and im not having a clue about the voltage so can anyone help me here the problem is i have a tbi and it all gets a bit confusing all i need is someone to not try to baffle me with maths and science and just say yes its a 24v battery as its supposed to be putting out 29 volts or no its the wrong voltage can anyone please help me
how can i tell what voltage the battery is as i need a new battery and i can get an internal cell pack for the battery but i need to know wnat the voltage i need is.. thnx

My guess is that you have a 24 volt battery, fully charged, as it is showing the same voltage as the charger is putting out.
I assume that you measured them both separately.
The 24 volt is the so called "nominal" value of voltage of that battery.
For example, a nominal 36 volt bike battery will be 42 volts when fully charged.
A 12 volt car battery, fully charged, will usually be at 13.2 volts, depending upon the type of LA Battery....! But between 12.6 and 1.2 volts.
It could even be higher if it is on a car and the engine is still running/charging, or just stopped.
You might even see up to around 14.2 volts depending upon the setting of the Alternator output voltage!

Its one of the reasons that car batteries do not generally have such a long life as while driving, they are usually being slightly overcharged, just to get the maximum capacity....

What is meant by nominal voltage?
Voltage, Nominal. A nominal value assigned to a circuit or system for the purpose of conveniently designating its voltage class (e.g., 120/240 volts, 480Y/277 volts, 600 volts). The actual voltage at which a circuit operates can vary from the nominal within a range that permits satisfactory operation of equipment.

A 24v battery is 29.4v fully charged. These batteries will be suitable for your bike.

It's a 24v battery. A seven cell lithium 24v battery charges to 29.4V. The charging voltage will be written on the charger's label.

The original Cyclamatic battery had 22750 cells that are fatter than the 18650 cells that you find in most batteries, so make sure you get the exact size of any replacement pack, and check that it fits before ordering.
