Hi , having finally finished mounting my ebike kit , it’s been pointed out to me that my battery really shouldn’t be mounted upside down ! Does anyone have ideas about kits to enable the battery to be turned around please ? Many thanks

May I ask, in a friendly manner, what are the reasons you have been given for not mounting your battery "upside down"? That nobody can read any lettering on it when it is upside down.
I understood that most battery chemicals are not liquid, but even if they are, some still don't object to being "upside down".....
Now if your bike has Lead Acid batteries, I could understand better, but few (none?) modern e-bikes still use LA Batteries IMHO.
Because for example, it would be most annoying if you had to always hold your mobile phone the "right way up", and most mobiles use the same battery chemistry as (most at least!) modern e-bike batteries.
So could someone here, who REALLY KNOWS what he is talking about, be so kind as to educate me why there is a need to have the battery "the right way up!", I would be MOST grateful.
The only possible reason that I can think of is maybe some batteries are "designed" to "catch and release" rainwater while riding, that simply does not work the other way around.....if idiotically true, then don't make or buy such batteries.....

The battery mounting rack is designed for compression with the weight of the battery on top of it; and also the weight of the battery helping to ensure good contacts. Upside down puts tension forces onto the rack; and (probably?) does not give the same help to the contacts. Upside down might be ok with extra straps round the battery and bike tube to support the battery.
As sjpt says the contacts may not make as well due to the weight of the battery and it does make sense that if water gets in then it will roll into the battery rather than away from it ! I totally agree with you about the actual principal of the cells working upside down or the right way tho !
It is a common sense thing not to fit the battery upside down.
Most points have been covered in this post and the last thread you made.
1. Possible Water ingress or affecting the contacts.
2. Less compression of the contacts.
3. Gravity the lock will be taking all the weight/forces and pressure put upon it.
4. Should the lock for whatever reason not do it's job then the battery will fall off.
5. One may accidently forget to lock the battery in place or butter fingers may occur removing or fitting.
6. By placing the battery up the correct way it is supported form accidental dropping/mishandling by being supported correctly to start with.
Otherwise there is no reason at all not to fit it upside down.
