Battery Mounted in Front Basket

Hi,

Will be recieving my new Kombi next week and wondering about mounting the battery in the front bread basket.

I reckon the weight distribution will be evened out with cargo at the rear and those baskets don't move when you turn. Rated up to 25kg.

Has anyone seen this done before?

Initial thoughts are of getting a downtube version and mounting the cradle using locking nuts with a piece of aluminium plate at the bottom shaped to lock into the baskets bar diameter. This will in effect sandwich the cradle and hold everything nice and tight.

Thoughts/experience/ideas would be appreciated.

The basket liner and cover would hide it but obviously will still be locked in place. Frees up space for bottles and top tube bag mid frame..

I can't see any problem with your proposal Karl, it's well inside the weight rating and with the weight centrally balanced it shouldn't affect the handling.
