Battery light Pendelton bike

Hi I’ve just bought a pendelton ebike but after putting the battery on charge for 5 hours the green bar on battery pack is still only showing 20% ?? When I turn it off and turn on again 100% lights up for a couple of seconds but reverts back to showing 20%? Is the battery faulty? Thanks
