Battery issue

I would be very grateful for any assistance with the following:

I have a Kalkhoff Pro Connect e bike but the battery (Derby Cycle manufacturer 36v 17Ah but they also produce 11 and 15 Ah) has failed. I have dismantled the battery (only 4 screws) and the printed circuit board by the connecting pins has burn damage but the actual cells seem fine. 50 Cycles (the importer and agent) are only interested in selling a new battery but one reason the people buy such bikes is to get away from the throw away attitude that much of society has.

Is anyone on this forum aware of either a source of second hand batteries or knowledge of any company that can repair? Thanks in advance.

Pat

If the battery needs no special commands from the BMS then it should be possible to replace it with a similar spec one probably would have to get one from Aliexpress.
Show us a pic of the BMS/ Circuit board with all of it[s wiring as it might be possible to renew the bms. Some soldering would be required but is generally quite an easy job for some one with the knowhow.

Blimey !!!
:eek:That has seen a catastrophic short/malfunction and quite lucky a major fire did not ensue.
I'm not familiar with the Khalkoff battery but would think the main BMS is deeper in side the battery case, the burnt pcb what's left of it may just be a secondary board (though I could be wrong).
Main issue though is why or what caused such a malfunction.

Likely probability of getting spares not high.
Most are for Bosch systems so have layered protocol comms so repairing may be futile as disconnection of any pcb may block the battery.
Some how if you can get hold of an empty new/ used case or an expired knackered battery and place your god cells insideor find a new end connector from a defunt/knackered battery, then it may be repairable.

Only can think of trying any kalkhoff dealer to see if they have any scrap packs to rob parts off or possibly look on ebay.
Only then can you move on to find someone to carry out a repair which should be relatively easy despite the mess in the pic.
The case will need opening fully to expose and cut the wiring so that new wiring can either be joined or replaced

A big mess :(.
A full battery pic so others may be able to help with sourcing parts. Battery spec year, voltage and model no.
Generally if Bosch then not user friendly to repair or source parts.

WoW !! what a mess, very lucky your whole bike didn't go up. Yet another reason to build your own ebike and not have to deal with the con that is propriety batteries/spares.
