Due to lack of space in the triangle of a Norco Charger frame, which is fitted with a BBS02, I have fitted my HL battery inside a pannier. Will it be OK to carry waterproofs etc. in the same pannier, or might the battery overheat ?.

The battery won't overheat, but it will wear through your pannier rather rapidly. It's generally not a good idea to put batteries in panniers because they jump about a lot and bang against the pannier frame.

As you have a hardtail, it would be much better to bolt the battery carrier to the rack.

Thanks Dave. The battery isn't loose in the pannier. I have bolted the battery carrier to an offcut of click together flooring, shaped & sanded to fit down the front half of pannier this in turn is bolted through the back of the pannier to four 10mm rubber lined P clips, mounted on the top & down rails of the rack. Apart from the hassle of having to remove the pannier or rack to wash the bike, I am quite happy with the result.
