June 19, 20232 yr https://batribike.com/contact-us/about-us Good stuff from the Coulson Family established company here in the UK since 2007 Rear hubs and batteries manufactured in Denmark They sell standard Chinese bikes that are distributed through a dealer network. Basically, it's Amazon bikes with dealer support. Some models are/have been OK. Others have been poor. I've talked with the owners many times. They're nice people, always friendly and helpful, but I sense that their expertise is more in the commercial direction rather than technical. They're one of many brands that set up at that time: Juicy Bikes; Wisper; Oxygen; etc. Many others have come and gone since then, but those original ones have learnt about quality the hard way and figured out how to control it, which is why they're still here. The many that came and went didn't.
June 19, 20232 yr On their webpage there are 5 pictures: Luke - Managing Director Jarred - Sales Manager Debbie - After Sales Paul - After Sales Tim - Agent And another Agent with no picture. No production and no assembly team.
June 19, 20232 yr No production and no assembly team. Unsurprising, since they are no longer a British company since their Danish partner Promovec took sole possession of the company in July 2022. The Coulson family are now effectively their employees. .

I'm kicking myself because I can't remember the name of the woman, who was always at the shows. She was an exceptionally strong cyclist. I remember her in the World Championships accelerating away with enormous pedal strokes from really fit guys in lycra on Bosch bikes. I think that's her standing by the Raleigh flag in the third photo. That is roughly in front of the Batribike stand. Did you know her, Flecc? https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Atmosphere2.jpg Edited June 19, 20232 yr by saneagle

And there's me inspecting the red Birdy! All the best, David
June 20, 20232 yr It's Sue Coulson, she is a great personality, if times were better I would try and hire her! And there's me inspecting the red Birdy! All the best, David Thanks, David. I did recognise you there. Sue was always very helpful and friendly. It was so nice to stop and chat with all these people, including yourself. It made going to the events worthwhile. They were happy days. There was a really nice community in the ebike trade then. Everybody knew each other and we all used to meet up at the many shows. There was the Tour de Presteigne, Redbridge, the Atmosphere event and the Cycle shows. Now it just seems so impersonal and there are only a few of the originals left. When did we last hear from Bob Wales, Andrew Lozinski, Kudos Dave, the Scott brothers, to name but a few? It's all taken over by faceless corporations now.
June 20, 20232 yr . It's all taken over by faceless corporations now. as volume rises, you gotta go big or go niche.
June 20, 20232 yr It's all taken over by faceless corporations now. Like so much in our lives. There's a beneficial side to this future that I see now in old age, with death more imminent. So little to miss and so much it will be good to miss. .

I remember going to a BAGB meeting about 15 years ago and presenting ebikes to all the big boys, I was laughed out of the place, very embarrassing. I took several ebikes for people to try but there were no takers! I wonder if those people, whose businesses now rely on ebikes to keep them afloat, remember. I bet they all have selective memories! All the best, David
June 20, 20232 yr You have had the last laugh now though David, those who scoffed at you having to eat their own words.
June 20, 20232 yr (I feel the UK is dominated by seeing cycling as a sport and often quite macho, where other countries have a strong utility cycling tradition and a lot of pedeleccing fits quite well into that tradition)
