I hav problems getting sports shoes / trainers etc to fit . I have what my wife calls "girls feet" - which in techinical terms means narrow. So unless I fork out for bespoke fitted shoes it can prove difficult to get sports shoes that keep my feet in one place - until today !!
http://www.sportsdirect.com/salomon-xr-shift-ladies-trail-running-shoes-216245?colcode=21624557

Retails usually at £80 plus a pair !!

And the wife says they don't look too girly - at least they won't when they have been coated in mud a few times.

So what's the difference other than price ??

Are we getting ripped off by the Big Brands purely due to fashion??

My wife bought a size small mans Paramo liteweight jacket last week - priced at £90. Women's -£145 for same spec jacket with an extra coloured zip toggle !!

Sports Direct? Isn't that Mike Ashley's company? The prices are low because he exploits his work force. Terrible company to work for.

Is that the one with zero hour contracts?
Yes, they have many staff on zero hours contracts in their huge distribution depot at Shirebrook in Derbyshire. It's like working for a mill owner in the 17th century, but all packaged in a modern looking building.

Mike Ashley also buys famous brand names, that were brand names associated with good quality, like Karrimor, Firetrap, Dunlop, Everlast etc etc and has those names put on cheap garbage clothing made in the far east. He then advertises that junk as 70% off prices....He's made a fortune out of it.
I've nothing against people like him making a lot of money in business, but his exploitation of British workers is despicable. In fact, i'd like to see zero hours contracts outlawed.

So would I.

When they have fully exploited then as slaves in all but name, that still isn't enough, they steal their pensions as well.

I like my zero hours contract with the government. I don't have to do any work hours and the pension still turns up regularly! :D
.
You don't have a zero hours contract. You have completed your hours when you were working. The pension is deferred wages held back and paid to you in instalments.
Remember all those ni payments.

I was having fun, the smiley was the clue!

In any case, my pension is no longer payback, I've lived beyond the expected lifespan when I was paying. Also I retired 11 years before the usual retirement age so only paid the minimum qualifying deductions.

My girlfriends hairdos are nearly twice the price of mine and her hair takes about the same time and isn't that much longer than mine. Go figure that one out.. !

At least his staff don't get searched when they leave work. Oh hang on... :(
