Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend some nice ballads around London, preferably starting from the north....
Thanks in advance!

Goryl

PS: I will have to let my wisper to a lady, so please be gentle and do not send me on a steep hill :D

Tour might be more appropriate but feel free to correct :D

Not my scene Goryl, but I guess you mean examples being performed in various London locations?

I mean, where can I go for a nice cycle ride in/around London :D
Thanks.
No wonder that stumped us, a ballad is a poem or song, usually traditional, and as ballade the same meaning in French too!

I'm a South Londoner so I'll leave suggestions to the Northerners first.

You may need to re-enter this as a new thread titled, "Suggestions wanted for London rides" or similar, to attract people in to post with answers.

Hi,
Yes I will follow your advice and open a new thread.
By the way, in French, the word ballade has two meanings, the most common being a small ride..

Thanks!

Thanks for the update Goryl. Is that colloquial, slang or new usage, since there's nothing in my dictionary about that other meaning.

My only slang French is foul expressions or swearwords!

Hi,

It is not in the dictionary because I do not speak french anymore (on top of still not speaking english :D).

There are actually two different words:
Ballade: this is a poem.
Balade: this is the small ride.

I had to look it up in the dictionary... The small ride (properly spelled) should be in your dictionary.

Thanks Goryl, the spelling is where I went wrong. We don't have an equivalent for that other spelling.
