Hi

Can anyone point me in the right direction, trying to find how fit a hydraulic sensor on my bike and cant find any, no instruction from the pack and the only decent youtube search was from kevin fang but he uses magnets and my pack did not come with , for now I just have to test it without a cutoff brake.

Thanks

can you post a picture of your HB sensor?

I know woosh don't sell HB sensors for BBS01, their zephyr-B are fitted with hydraulic e-bike brakes which have built in sensors. Their demo HDB BBS01 bike is fitted with 3D printed housings for a microswitch. They then solder the brake sensor connector to the microswitch.

Eclipse sell the standard Hall sensored HDB:

You epoxy the sensor to the cylinder and cabletie the magnet ring to the levers

As been mentioned all after market or kit HDB sensors rely on a micro switch hall or reed and a magnet, some need to sense the magnet and some need not to, ie the mag is moved a way. On my bikes I have both types. The ones Trex shows needs the magnet to be in contact with the sensor then activates when the magnet/lever is pulled away. Em3ev sell a green push button that cuts the motor which plugs in to one of the yellow connectors.
My BBS came with mech disc brake levers so I dismantled them and utilised switch and the magnet in the end of the housing, I have a pair of the Eclipse sensors but have not yet retrofitted them.

Should have a tiny ring magnet in with each sensor.

Use the sticky pad on the sensor to attach to your brake's main body, and a small square of something like Mammoth tape, to stick the magnet to the lever.

Good idea to wipe the area with some isopropyl alcohol and let it dry before sticking them on.

It can take a couple of tries to position the magnet, so that it operates properly with enough lever pull. The Mammoth tape gives you a bit of leeway to do this.

Then just firmly push down on the magnet for about 10 seconds to set it in place.

Note: If the magnet moves away from the sensor whilst riding, then it will give an impression of a dead motor. Just move the magnet closer to the sensor again for it to operate.

I learnt the hard way about this

Fordulike, thanks for the detailed photos, just have to wait if Woosh will send me a replacement.

I have ridden the KHS Ebike ,50 miles now without the brake sensors, how important is it,it is really necessary, anyone else had ridden for a while without using the brake sensors.

I rode my bike for about a couple of weeks without brakecutoffs and didn't like it, especially around town in close to the cars and was glad to put a new sensor on. I only use PAS though.

I don´t think it is necessary but I would not go for magnets melted to the Brakelever and so on, I would use a ready set like this one for bbs Motors
These look good, where are these available?

They are still in the box. Didn't mount them. Don't have the intention of mounting them. I don't have a throttle that can jam wide open just plain old PAS. And I have no problems in traffic, I use the lowest assistance settings or I am first away from the lights and on full power.

I will probably mount a HWBS on my next bike which will have a mid motor just in case I need a "clutch" for changing gears. But I think that if I am able to continue riding as I do now i.e. being in the right gear at the right time and constantly moving up and down the range depending on conditions I probably won't need it then either.

I wouldn't personally ride without brake sensors.

Firstly, due to the fact I use my brake cut-offs when changing gears.
My rear mech would have exploded by now, without cutting the power when changing

Secondly, no matter how careful you are to stop pedaling or release the throttle when using the brakes, there will always be situations where the motor is still running when braking.

NOT good for the drivetrain or safety. On damp surfaces especially :(

Sorry, I do not know who you are. It seems like you have purchased a Bafang kit from us but these do not come with hydraulic brake sensors - they come with standard brake levers. Could you please let me know when and exactly what you purchased from us so we can try and help you better?
