Hi. What do I need to upgrade BBS02 36v 500w with C961 display to 48volt or would it be worth replacing rather tired Samsung 29e cell 14.5 Ah battery with a 17.4 Ah one with 29e cells. I know that 29e cells are pretty low discharge but would the 10s6p supply more power than the 10s 5p I am using at the moment. When fully charged the motor pulls OK for a few miles but then long hills make it feel like riding through treacle, it is worst at full power .

Cheers Steve

Buy a 48v BBS, the controller will blow if you use 48v battery on a 36v model.
29E would certainly be better in a 10s6p config, though you are better off with good 10a cells like Panasonic PF , 3200mah BD or 3400 GA also LG 3500mah MJ1 or Samsung 30Q.
Save a few quid and get Jimmy at ebikebatteries .co.uk to re - cell it.

You can't upgrade a 36v crank drive to 48v unless you don't pedal and only use the throttle, because the required cadence will be too high.

If you need more power on a crank motor, you should upgrade the current, not the voltage.

Thanks for that nealh. So you think that a 10s 5p with 10 amp cells is better than 10s 6p with 29e. It would certainly be lighter. Can you recommend a supplier. I tried eclipse but they are changing their supplier & no longer have 30q batteries.

Cheers Steve.

Thanks for that nealh, but there is some life left in the old battery. So I'd like to keep it & buy a new one.

You have to tell us which type of battery case you have us or provide us with a pic.
Woosh sell batteries so you could give them a call to see which cells they use.

HarvestMoon is the Ebay site for Enerprof/Enerpower.

The battery case is HL1. Ideally I would like to stick with that, as I have two 36v bikes & it would be handy to be able to carry a spare for long rides. The 17.4 AH battery with 29e cells that Eclipse have in stock is in an HL3 case. I don't think you can fit 60 cells in an HL1. Apart from The BBS02 36v I have a Tongsheng 36v 500w which I was thinking of replacing with a Woosh 48 volt Tongsheng kit. Hence my interest in running the BBS02 at 48v. I had hoped that fitting a 48v controller would do the trick. I know that Woosh stock 36v 15AH HL1 batteries with according to the website, Panasonic PF cells for 369 GBP I don't know if that's a good price or not, but it would give me interchangeable batteries.
