Hi all,

I have been absent on this forum for a long time thanks to me losing my job and spending the last 10 months working in a stop gap job whilst constantly looking for something better. At long last, I found something much better and start next month. I also bought a new house which has an outbuilding which I have converted into an electronics workshop.

Very relieved and happy - more time now to do some tinkering in the workshop instead of spending hours applying for jobs!!

So, to start with, I thought I would update you all on how my Bosch e bike battery is performing which has been modified with higher capacity Panasonic 2.9ah high drain cells. Some of you may well remember me completing this project a while back. So far the pack is performing very well after a lot of use. I would say that it has been worth upgrading the cells and it has certainly saved me at least £200 compared to buying a genuine Bosch 11ah battery.

I have also been testing a cheap copy battery which claims it contains Panasonic cells. That is not as great - capacity seems to have dropped quite a bit in under a year of light usage. I wouldn't bother with these batteries - far better to recell your existing one.

So, here's to a great 2015. So far it has been amazing and long may it continue!

Cheers,

El.

Well done on sorting the job.

Those of us still in work spend a lot of waking hours doing it, so it needs to be right.

Is your recelled battery higher capacity than the original?

If so, you might consider taking commissions.

This job too looks much better. It's no fun being in a job you don't like. I never gave up and looked every day and night for something better. About 25 applications (15 of which I worked hard on) and then 3 interviews. Then along came something which looked just right. Applied, got the offer and bingo. Hard work getting there but finally sorted.

Flexi time too so more time to spend tinkering in the workshop. Currently in the middle of restoring an old Pioneer reverb amp with new caps and new output transistors. I bought a transistor checker from ebay for less than a tenner inc post from Thaliand! Works like a dream. Along with the multimeter and ESR meter the only thing missing is an oscilloscope!

Anyway, back to the existing day job writing reports from home so for now I'll leave you with the link to my earlier re-cell project on my Bosch battery. This is fully working and still working well. 11ah from 8ah. Total cost of materials and shipping = £250. Didn't take too long to solder ribbon cable in either. Top job! http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/latest-progress-on-cell-upgrade-for-bosch-battery.16651/
