A shock announcement that the German makers of the AVE e-bikes owned by some members are insolvent, due to the difficult trading conditions in the past year. A restart is hoped for:

Such a shame. AVE bikes were competitively priced, perhaps it's part of the problem. The other part is the rise of Chinese made bikes advertised in ebay.de - most Chinese bikes are sold quite cheaply by internet marketing like the recent adverts for the Mosso, causing further erosion.
Perhaps also a bigger picture emerges that the German market has stopped growing and it's time for German e-bike brands to consolidate.
Pantherwerke who is supposed to have bought the brand does not make bikes in Germany. Will we see AVE bikes made in China in the future?

What does this mean for someone who had just bought a new 2014 Ave bike... would there still be warranty and support? (I was nearly just about to buy one..:)

Eddie has already had an email quoting the bankruptcy and looking to buy it at a rock bottom price!

No chance, Eddie says he's going to put the price up as it's now become a collectors piece! :)

He is sort of back. Having been sentenced to Pedelecs Forum death, he's returned as a ghost to forever haunt the forum in threads such as this. :eek:

I have heard that everything will be carrying on as per normal. I imagine the takeover will be confirmed in due course.
