Londoner Bradley Wiggins started the Tour de France as favourite to win this year and has now taken the yellow jersey as leader in stage seven.

And Scot Andy Murray has reached the Wimbledon Tennis Championship final.

Eventual wins or not, these are huge achievements compared with our performances for very many years, not bad for a country with not quite 1% of the world's population. And the timing couldn't be better, coming with the Olympics in the Jubilee Year.

Just been watching the fabulous win for Briton Jonathan Marray and Dane Frederik Nielsen in Wimbledon Men's Doubles. Amazing stuff, against all the odds.

I wish Andy the best for the final, and hope the rain will hold so the roof will not come into use. as i think Federer in a indoor enviroment will be unbeatable, IMHO.

I live about 2 miles from the courts - its been raining all morning - I bet the roof will be on.

Will there be a roof on the Grand Prix though, or will the drivers be given fireproof trunks and snorkels ?

Wimbledon went to form, Andy Murray just a moment ago presented with the silver plate as runner up, still a great performance though and bodes well for the future. Federer was in unbeatable form.

As consolation, Bradley Wiggins has kept the yellow jersey as the leader of the Tour de France in stage 8, with good prospects of retaining it in the following time trial.
