Hi Just finished my first home built ebike, the motor controller and throttle off a 2001 shopper, with some cutting grinding and filing of the hub so I could fit a 7 speed sprocket, then build a 26" wheel and get the wheel to fit an old frame I had in the shed, the controller had a little restrictor screw type joby fitted to it if you tune it the motor speeded up the other way it slowed down when i took it out altogether the speed of the motor increased at least 2 fold.

Took it out today with my Daughter on a wisper 905e which is good for 18mph with her 48kg weight, over took her at a guess I was doing close to 20mph not bad four a bike that cost less than 60 pounds to build (not including the battery) which came off my heinzmann mtb.

Well done aaannndddyyy, now that really is affordable e-biking! :)

Did that motor have a standard free wheel thread on it?

If you've any hills in your area it would be good to know how the climbing has been affected. Often if the speed of the motor is increased the climb ability reduces, but if you don't have very steep hills it won't matter of course.

Yes the motor dose have a free wheel, I live in norfolk which is mostly flat I use the gears keep them low then there is no problem climbing the few gentle hills that are around here. a single front sprocket is all that is really needed. :)

That's ideal for Norfolk, plenty of speed and as you say, not too many hill climb demands. It gets better, not only e-biking at a bargain price but the bike tailored to the area as well. :)

Plenty spend over £1000 and aren't as well suited.

Yes a torq is one machine I would like to get my hands on at least to try, as there’s no way I can afford a 1000 pounds at the moment, there’s no where in this area that sells them so no chance of a test ride. :( Its fleccs posts on his bike building Q and T bikes that has given me the skills and knowhow to be able to solve the problems I came across well putting this bike together.

Thanks aaannndddyyy, it's good to hear that it's helped someone achieve the bike they want at an easily affordable price.
