Hi I have a claud butler glide2, today both the automatic assis and the manual throttle have stopped working, the battery is full and the display is working, where do we start to look for the problem? TIA

Besides not working , did or had anything occurred prior to this howeevr trivial.
bike fallen over , fallen off bike or even punctures ?

No I had used the throttle and assist on the ride, but I do like to peddle myself on the flat ! Went to put it back on and nothing! Thanks

One will need to try and carry out certain tests to see where the cause may lie, however not all bikes will easily aklow this as one expects the connectors may be molded w/p type.
Firstly I would check the controller phase connections for heat or burn marks.
After that probably a resistance check on the controller mosfets for a short in any of them.
If that all pans out a hall sense test on the motor halls.
How easy any fo that is, is dependant on the bke motor and wiring used.

Thank you, my husband has had the multi meter out on lots of connections, I think the bike has had it, but was hoping for something we had missed! Thanks for taking the time to help

The bike has not had it. Every part on it is repairable. If the bike just stopped working, the problem causing it will not be a big one. You just have to find it.

there are more than one version of the CB Glide. Can you show a picture of the control panel on the handlebars so that we know which one it is, then I'll explain how to find the cause of your problem.

As the throttle has deicded not to work along with the PAS as well then the fault is likely to be a component failure .
Your controller wiring has useful labelling to identify the wiring, a nice touch.
If the bike has brake cut out sensors then make sure they are working ok , the easiest way to do so is by disconnecting them at the controller , have a look to see if there are two sets of labelled wires if so disconnect them and then try the throttle/PAS again.
If the bikes works then one of the brake sensors is faulty and one can simply reconnect one or the other to see which one is defective.

Let us know and then one can carry out simple tests on the controller wiring to see if a fault lies there.

Just to make sure I understand correctly, you have a throttle and pedal sensor and the motor doesn't go when either is used. Is that correct?

The first thing to check is the motor connector on the right side fork. It doesn't look like the normal one that many peo0le don't press in far enough, but whatever it is, have a good look at it to see that it's clean and everything making contact. Also you should check the motor connectors at the controller end. The three bullet connectors all need to be tight and there's probably another 5 or 6 way connector for the hall sensors that can have a loose pin.

Next thing is to test the motor with the walk assist button, which is normally press and hold the down arrow button unless your manual says otherwise.

Final check for now. When you operate the throttle, is there any small click, tick or hum from the motor or any sign of a twitch or anything like that. Listen carefully.

Your bike uses all standard Chinese parts that are easy to get and cheap to replace, so don't give up. We just need to find the cause, which is probably something simple.

Thank you so much my husband has done all but press the arrow and not with bike at the moment, so will try this and in good holiday tradition it is pouring down today!

Thank you yes this was the first thought my hus

sorry I didn’t say yes both throttle and pas not working, also no click or surge or any noise
Thank you

OK, we're making progress. Do the walk assist test, then with a meter, measure the voltage between the thin black and red wires on any of the connects to throttle, pedal sensor or motor. It should be 5v. If its zero, the controller is not switched on and we have to find out why; if it's too low, there is a problem on the 5v somewhere, and if it's 5v, it's probably the motor cable. Obviously measure the 5v with the control panel switched on.

One obvious test that I should have mentioned earlier. Disconnect the brake electric cables from the controller, and see if the throttle and pedal assist then work.

Thank you both for your help.
My husband took every connector apart and tested and cleaned them, then this morning it started to go and made a slight noise at the hub, he disconnected the plug by the hub again and reconnected it and we have just returned from a successful 24 mile bike ride!!
When we get home holiday it will have a full service.
Thank you again for all of your help, knowledge and encouragement

So had the motor connector previously been disconnected to mend a puncture or maybe snagged on something slightly pulling it a part ?

It hadn’t been apart, but had been packed in the back of a van with 2 other bikes, wrapped in blankets, with all of our holiday bits, I guess it could have been pulled on, but my husband had unplugged and re plugged while on the ride and no luck then, I think it needs a proper service once home.
