Hi
i am thinking of buying a used converted ebike, but I just wanted to ask your kind advice about possible available parts to buy for it in the UK, especially the same battery and controller.

I have searched extensively, but cannot find any, I wondered if these parts had different part names or numbers, but were the same items below.

The current parts on the bike are
Dehawk battery ...36v 14ah with Panasonic cells
controller .............Das-kit ct-d5k-44
motor.....................8 fun bafang rear hub motor 700c wheel 250w
display...................Das-kit c6 display

this kit was fitted to the bike 3 years ago, so although it’s ok at the moment, it will probably need updating sooner or later.
I would prefer to just replace like for like parts when needed, but if these parts are not available then is there an available full kit, UK road legal 250w rear hub kit including battery with similar power as above.
many thanks, Dave9

Probably an Oxydrive kit. You can get Das Kit parts from Leon Cycles, who are agents for NCM bikes that come from the same factory as the guy that supplied the kits to Oxydrive. Those parts are also used on the NCM bikes.

You can also get the parts from Aliexpress because they're standard Chinese parts, but Das Kit reveresed the connectors from standard to tie their customers to them. You can cut the connectors off and solder the wires to use the standard parts. You can use just about any motor, battery or controller +LCD oon your bike, so you could improve it if you wanted. Using other standard parts requires a bit of soldering and wiring.

Thanks very much for your kind reply vfr400 and you are correct, oxydrive did originally supply the das-kit, but they unfortunately have now ceased trading. I enquired at Leoncycles and they said they no longer supply the das-kit conversion kits and have limited similar parts, but they will be better equipped in the future especially with their link with NCM as you mentioned. Ive never soldered anything to be honest, but knowing that I could use standard parts , motor, batter and controller etc has really helped me, thanks again vfr400, you have been very helpful

One can buy the very good KT controller kit that is all plug and play for £70 - £100 ( dependant on version), the only connections that then may need to be made are the two battery to controller connections as likely they won't be the same.

Do you need any parts or are you just worried about the future?

The battery case is unique, but you can get it re-celled for about £300 when it expires. The controllers and LCDs are fairly reliable. The motors sometimes get water in, especially if you install it upside down with the cable exiting upwards instead of downwards. You can replace the motor with any one that uses the 9 pin connector, which is most mortors available. The only other weak point is the main connector from the controller to the LCD. That's the one nearer the battery, not at the LCD end. Put a blob of silicone grease in there to waterproof it, and you might as well do that to the other connectors near the handlebars and the pedal sensor.

If I had that kit and the battery expired, I'd replace everything bar the motor with 48v components. A battery, better controller, LCD, throttle and PAS would cost about £300 total. That would give you the option of 30% more speed and power without any downside.

Thanks very much again vfr400 for taking the time to reply and for all your kind advice, I very much appreciate it.....I was unsure about buying the bike due to possible available parts that I may need in the future, but your advice gave me some comfort in knowing that there are parts or other options available if and when required.

Just an update,
after the great advice that I received on here, I decided to go and see the bike and I actually ended up buying it. I know that it’s always a risk buying anything that is used, but I am really pleased with the bike, both mechanically and electrically.
The seller was a complete gentleman, has really cared for the bike and it was a pleasure completing the transaction.
Only time will tell if it is reliable, but at least I know there is a good chance of getting the parts required.
I really appreciate the advice from vfr400 and Neath
best wishes, Dave
