Alternative to Forza

Some time ago I set my sights on a Forza - thanks to all the help from Pedelec members - but decided to wait until the NiMh battery versions were re-released, and the Spring, hoping the 2 would coincide.

Just spoke to 50Cycles and it's another 8 weeks wait for the Forza - not their fault, I'm sure - but a pain in the b*m all the same.

So, could anyone recommend an alternative to the Forza - the Forte, or the Torq perhaps? (I forget why I'd discounted them.) Or perhaps another brand altogether - maybe somrthing new has come on the market?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

The Torq Trekking is the closest now with it's derailleur gears, though a little lower powered.

The Forte has the same power as the Forza, but with a hub gear.

So it's really a matter of preferences, whether the gears choice or power is more important.

Bear in mind that all these bikes are held to the legal speed now, no derestriction possible for higher speeds according to the eZee chief executive.

Thanks as usual Flecc!

The Forte seems the better option as the gears are probably better-suited to stop/start London traffic, and I'll need the power for those hills you measured for me a few months back.

I'd forgotten about the derestriction though. Will that be on all their models from now on?

It seems so. This is what Mr Wai Won Ching wrote on the disappearance of derestriction on the new Torq:

"I like to clear an issue here.

1) In a conflict of interest between what customer or the market likes and what is legal. eZee takes the legal way, this is absolutely essential for long term consideration."

The derestriction facility had been progressively disappearing before, first the Forte, then the Forza, and now the Torq.

Fair enough, I suppose, though I'm sure I read about a workaround on some of the models that have already been restricted. But that would be illegal, I suppose!!;)

The German ones do, though apparently not as fast as the eZee bikes were, it seems from what Frank was saying. The motor is from the same maker, but a different model, and I think a bit lower power. David Miall of Wisper says that the attention in the latest one went on improved hill climbing, the same as happened to the new Torq, so I don't know if the expected UK one will have much of a high speed. There's a wait for that UK 905se as well of course.
