I hope someone may be able to help. I have an Alien Ocean that hasn't been used for about 5 years as the battery is knackered.

I would like to replace the battery (probably with frame mounted rather than carrier mounted) but I need to understand what the connections from the battery are for and what connections from a new battery I would need to make to replicate the Alien Ocean socket so that I can wire the new battery into the Alien Ocean wiring. I've attached a photo of the 4 pin socket at the rear of my existing knackered battery. Unfortunately, I cannot measure voltages as the battery is completely gone. Any help greatly appreciated.IMG_8998.JPG

Chuck the whole thing. It's hideous. All you need is two wires that connect to the controller. You can use any 36v battery you want and fit it wherever and however you want.

The controller is in the compartment in the front of the battery. Pull it all out and stick it in one of those toolbags that go under the seat.

Your bike will handle much better with a downtube battery.

Thank you but I need to know what connections to make to the existing plug that the present battery plugs into. I don't really want to have to re-wire the bike from scratch, just change/extend the 4 pin plug but I don't know what connections from the new battery and controller would go to the 4 different pins. I was hoping the layout (+ + - +) might represent some standard conventiion as to which wires would go to each pin.

Open the compartment and see what's connected on the other side. The normal convention is that only the outer two are connected + and -, but those markings don't support that. Maybe, they've taken off something for lights.

You don't need to rewire anything to do what I suggested. It's just a question of chucking the unnecessary junk. The controller is powered by two wires with bullet connectors that come from that connector you showed. Unplug them and connect the new battery. It's as simple as that.
