Just about to order a AKM-100sx front wheel hub that weighs 2.1kg. would this be ok to be fitted into a 26" single wall wheel which is currently on the bike and cut down the spokes and get them threaded. 2.1kg doesn't seem to be that much extra weight to add or is this a bad idea?

I wasn't sure if it needed the extra strength from the double wall or not. Thats great news saves be buying another rim.
The only difference is that you have to get the spoke length right for single-walled rims. You can use slightly longer ones, but then they poke up above the nipples and would puncture the inner-tube, but if you grind them flush afterwards, it's no problem.
