Hi,
Just a thought ( and I did search the forum for an answer this time!!). I'm about to buy the Kalkhoff Agattu, but as the bike is so light, I would like the option to switch off the power supply while pedalling. ( you could call it.. going commando...though I do realise that this has another more arresting meaning!!..:D Is this possible and is it worth it re: battery life.. ( I know its worth it for my health!) Talking of that old chestnut.. battery shelf life, should I buy a second charger for work ( 3 mile round trip.. 1.5- 2 miles of steep hills), or, considering it's such a small distance, am I safe to wait until I get home each night?

Hi Musicbooks - I don't know the Agattu but if it so similar to the Biketech Flyer as it seems, I'd say that have no need at all of a second charger: range should be much more than 30 miles. On the Flyer, like on the old Lafree, switching the power while pedalling is very easy. The only problem on the Flyer - I don't know about the Kalkhoff - is that the lights are powered by the battery and if you switch of the power they are off as well (one of the few things I don't like of this bike).
Please give us a feedback of the Agattu!

i would think that it would be a waste of money to buy another charger as i would have thought you could do at least a couple of return journeys before charging

These bikes with the Panasonic power unit are very easy to ride with the power switched off.

On the similar Lafree Twist weighing 22 kilos, I never switched on until I reached the first hill, and in one direction eastwards, that meant three miles without power. So yes, it's definitely worth it.

You equally definitely don't need a second charger, with the Agattu you'll get several trips out of a charge even without switching off, and it could be 8 or 9 trips, depending on the hills steepness and your pedalling contribution.

OK I admit it. going commando is reminding me of that nudist bike run they had in the summer again now...
