Hi all
I received my new build converted cannondale Adventure the other day, i absolutely love it. A few niggles but im sure i will get them sorted in due course.
I have a 48v 17.5ah battery which unfortunately came with a poor quality charger with a really loud fan that i disliked the moment i used it for first charge, anyway i think it has actually broke on second use as that annoying fan didnt spin up thankfully i noticed and kept my eye on it and when i felt the brick it was warm tipping into hot so i immediately unplugged and it will be going in the bin.
So my question is can the experts on here point me in the direction of a decent replacement charger for a 48v 17.5ah Hailong battery, it has the 3 pin connector XLR? i think, thanks.

Chargers can and do get very warm /hot, my Sans chargers got very warm and non use fans so I modded the casings with several 12mm vent holes and most importantly one directly above the voltage regulator to allow me to adjust any voltage annomoly.
A few vent holes and the chargers now run much cooler.

I should add there was also an electrical burning smell. The charger is so light and smacked of poor quality so I'm not going to take any risks.
Although I admire your skills it's all beyond me and I wouldn't mess with things I don't have enough knowledge about.

I had to do a top-up charge, and because I have a heat probe backed by a heat insulator from my Home Ruination by Ebike Battery Fire Expulserating PreTerminator™®©℠, I thought I'd throw caution to the winds/live dangerously and bung that onto the charger instead of my ebike battery, and lazily monitor it's exterior case temperaure while pottering around doing other stuff. Of course the charger LED light started red. The ambient air temperature of that room was a tiny bit less than 17.6°C.

Temperature rapidly reduced while the LED was still red. Of course I have no idea what the temperature was inside the case. Higher temperature in summer. Maybe I should do as @Nealh has, and drill some holes. I worry about spilling tea in through the holes. I could avoid this hazard by not drinking and charging.

Look at the AliExpress site , I purchased a Tangspower 3A Charger with a 3 pin XLR plug 3 months ago and it is excellent . It comes with a cooling fan . Mine is a 42 V and is now on offer at £8.11 . They have 48V models as well .
