Hi guys,

I have a gng mid drive chain reduction kit 60v controller came with it but I have been using a 48v 15ah battery the whole time, the battery is actually 5 years old but I haven’t used it that much so it’s working great still. . I must say it’s working great and goes about 30max . I was thinking a few things though

could I add a 12v 15ah battery lithium ion in series to get 60v battery output? Would i harm my existing battery ?

I have seen cheap 12v 15000mah batteries on eBay designed for cctv systems or various things , could I add this to my bikes existing battery connection and turn it into a 60v like my controller is designed for?

Also how far can you push a controller in terms of voltage, as I was thinking maybe I could get a 24v and go up to 72v . Would that be too much for a 60v controller?

Thanks guys

You need to open the controller to check the capacitor max voltage.

The cctv batteries are probably not suitable they are likely low power/current drain but high capacity cells, the opposite for ebike use.

Find a suitable battery then yes in series it will boost the voltage.
