A2B octave battery issues

Hi all I have been given a A2B octave it has 2 batteries both of which seem to charge properly but when fitted to the bike the display goes round to full and then straight down to one bar on both batteries. I find it strange that both batteries would be faulty
where do I start looking for fault ?

the engine runs and pulls well but without going for a long ride to see how long each battery lasts I don’t know where to start

The batteries could be quite old. Most batteries will take full charge, but once you start drawing current old ones will sag voltage quite a bit. The display is almost certainly showing voltage. I think going for a longish ride, but keeping close to home, is probably your best bet.

Instead of making everybody guess, why don't you go out for a long ride and see what happens - then you have your answer?
