Great idea for pedelecs, maybe only in flat areas for unpowered bikes, given the added weight.
Supermarkets might be suspicious that things could be left in the bottom and not checked out.

If you take it round the supermarket, you won't need to pay for carrier bags. At 5p per bag it could pay for itself in about 35 years.
