Hi

I've just responded to an ad in the Classified section so I thought I should introduce myself. The pedelec would be for my wife - though I've been delegated the task of researching and coming up with a recommendation!

It will be for her 8 mile round trip to work and for leisure use. We live in Kendal with beautiful hills all around us. I have a road bike that I enjoy and I'm hoping that a pedelec will get us out more on the bikes of a weekend. My wife is no lover of struggling up hills on her bike, but I'm daft enough to quite enjoy the effort. I'm also thinking that we might do some cycle camping, with my wife taking the heavy camping gear in her power assisted panniers!

Cheers

Hi Ian,

Welcome to the forum.

I know that part of the world very well having grown up just outside Penrith and also know just what the hills are like for a cyclist.

I am fairly sure you will get a lot of good and helpful advice from other members.

I am somewhat biased but have no hesitation in recommending one of our powerful and reliable eZee bikes for your wife that would also lighten your load of camping gear.

You can see the full range here electric bikes and conversion kits - Home

Just thought I would report that my wife is now the proud owner of a Trek Valencia + 2012! It's follows some very helpful advice following my post on the "which bike should I buy" forum - thanks all once again. We got the bike from Evans Cycles here in Kendal, under the Cycle to Work Scheme and (I'm particularly pleased to say), Evans "price match" scheme. Net result, a price to us of £900!!

My wife is very pleased so far. The only draw back has been the lack of knowledge of the product at the bike shop. I have to say I'm not surprised about that, bearing in mind that I suspect ours is the first electric bike they have sold there. I've had really useful chat with Trek UK in Milton Keynes though! I suspect that I will end up emailing Bionx in Canada with some of my more technical queries. One benefit of the Bionx system is that it's totally silent - not sounding like a milk float as you're passing pedestrians is rather nice!

I have to say I'm tempted to get one too!
