Hello, could someone please help me with a problem I have with my bike. I have a wisper 806fe, I've had it just over 2 1/2 years, I've covered probably 1000 miles but thats a guess. Today I was cycling home from work just about to do a right hand turn and the bike cut out, no power, and felt like juddering coming from the front wheel, after about 30 seconds it started working again, I went bit further and it cut out again then came back on with a juddering from the front wheel, the battery indicator went down to 1 light, usually it is on 2 or 3 lights when i get home, this problem has never happened before.

ISTR that low voltage cut out was just that, all power went rather than any juddering. I'm assuming you have the SB rear hub motor in that one.
When you talk about the battery indicator is that on the battery on mounted up front?

Hi Brennans12 and welcome to the forum.

Undoubtedly, some of our members, wiser than I, will be along shortly to offer their best opinions on your problem. In the meantime, it might be helpful if you could indicate whether or not the charging behaviour is as it always was or different. By that I mean, is the battery actually being fully charged? At more than a couple of years old, it may simply be that the battery is on its last legs but have you checked the accessible wiring connections to ensure good contact?

You haven't indicated how long your usual or typical journey is and again, that might be helpful for our experienced readers to understand what may be causing your problem. The terrain may also play a large part so if you could describe any hills, that may also help our diagnosticians.

Regards,
Indalo

Thanks for the welcome, I ride 5 miles a day, one very steep hill, I charge the battery after every journey, I have checked wiring to see if anything was loose but looks ok.

If the juddering was also a bit noisy, it could be one of the connections from the Hall sensors in the motor losing continuity. The lead coming from the motor has 8 wires in it, 3 thick ones carrying the motor current and five thin Hall sensor wires that communicate with the controller. Check the lead from the motor to the controller for any inline connectors, they may be bound in insulation. If there's a connector, remove any insulation and try unplugging and replugging to remake the connections. If all's well then, insulate the connector again with PVC insulating tape.

If that doesn't solve the problem, best contact your nearest Wisper dealer.

Took the bike into the dealer for repair, it was the connection by the front wheel, apparently it became welded together and caused an intermitent loss of power, it is a problem they have seen before with this bike. So it's all up an running again. Thanks for all your advice.
