750w mid drive Vs 1500w hub drive

Featured Replies

I am thinking of modding my Vulcan e spec even further with some big power kit. I want to know the pros and cons of each. I'm guessing the mid drive will be waayy better range. Also would like to know the minimum 48v battery I would need for at least 20 mile range in each case

mid drives are lighter.

Range is about the same, unless you have a lot of hills, battery consumption is mainly a function of speed.

Consumption per mile is proportional to speed cubed.

If I was ever tempted by a 1.5 kW motor I would run it at 72v with a 25 Amp controller. A couple of beefy 36v batteries in series would do the trick.
